Rae T. Vann

Rae T. Vann is a partner with the firm, which she first joined in 2000 as an associate. Since 2007, she also has served as General Counsel to the Equal Employment Advisory Council (EEAC), a nationwide employer association dedicated to promoting sound approaches to the elimination of workplace discrimination.

In her capacity as EEAC’s General Counsel, Ms. Vann drafts and supervises the filing of amicus curiae, or “friend-of-the-court” briefs in the U.S. Courts of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court in employment cases of importance to the business community. She also serves as Director of Investigative Services for the firm’s affiliated consulting practice, Employment Advisory Services, Inc. (“EASI”), in addition to providing legal representation to corporate clients of the law firm on various EEO matters.

Ms. Vann previously was associated with Shipman & Goodwin, LLP, a major Connecticut law firm, where she practiced Labor and Employment and School Law. She also served as Special Counsel to the New Haven Board of Education, where she represented the Board in various matters, including state and federal employment discrimination claims, federal compliance reviews, termination proceedings, and labor disputes before the State Board of Mediation and Arbitration and the State Board of Labor Relations.

Prior to that, Ms. Vann was an Associate Attorney with Hartford, Connecticut-based Updike, Kelly & Spellacy, where she represented clients in labor and employment litigation matters. Rae began her career in the position of Assistant Commission Counsel for the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities (“CCHRO”), the state’s fair employment practices (FEP) agency.

Ms. Vann received her B.S. in Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon and her law degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law. She is admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia and the State of Connecticut, as well as before the U.S. Supreme Court and other federal appellate courts.
