Katherine Y.K. Cheung

Kathy Y. K. Cheung joined the firm as Of Counsel in May, 2009. For the previous five years, she served as the lead in-house employment counsel for U.S. Foodservices, Inc. (USF), a national food service distributor. As Vice President, Employment Law for USF, Ms. Cheung established company-wide employment policies and practices for over 26,000 employees and counseled senior executives on employment, ethics, immigration, benefits, executive compensation, and tax issues. She also successfully managed complex employment lawsuits, including multi-plaintiff and collective actions.

Prior to USF, Ms. Cheung was an Associate at McGuiness, Norris & Williams, LLP (MNW), the predecessor firm to NTLL, from 2000-2004. Before that, she was an employment law Attorney in the General Counsel’s Office at the U.S. Department of Commerce, an employment law Associate at Hogan & Hartson, LLP, and a Judicial Clerk for the Honorable John R. Hargrove, U.S. District Judge for the District of Maryland.

Ms. Cheung received her A.B. in Social Studies magna cum laude from Harvard/Radcliffe College and her J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School. She is a member of the bars of New York, Maryland, and the District of Columbia, as well as the U.S. Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals for the Second and Fourth Circuits.
